Guest Blogger Series: Have a Little Faith!

Guest Blogger Series: Have a Little Faith!

I decided to hold off on the Guest Blogger Series last week so that people could come down from the natural high that is Obama winning the election. And for those of you that didn’t want him to win…I figured you guys needed some time to mourn the loss of Mittens.  But now we are here with a new post from a great friend of mine named Lauren Moye.  I met Lauren during my time at the Thunderbird School of Global Management (07-09) and I am so happy that I did.  We had a whirlwind two years at Thunderbird and were lucky enough to stay in touch afterwards.  Lauren is the embodiment of what it means to be a T-bird as can be seen from her post.  Since graduating in 2009 she has lived in Oregon, Arizona, India and most recently, is now in Malaysia.  You can keep track of her not so difficult decision to follow her heart around the world at Life Sans Borders! This is a great blog that shares her journey through love, culture shock and all that comes with following ones heart in an honest and open way.  Her husband Charan (also a T-bird) is a regular contributor as well.  I hope you enjoy her post and please feel free to leave any thoughts and/or comments below.

Guest Blogger Series: Sex-ploitation in Latin America

Dash Harris is someone that has been mentioned multiple occasions on this blog.  We have become good friends over the past year and both share a passion for many of the same things.  She is the creator of InaDash Media, Empowered Afro-Latina Tumblr, VenusGenus, Diaspora Dash and the Negro Documentary series that I often post on my blog.  As an Panamanian-American, she has a vested interest in the region and has taken the time to educate herself on the cultures of Latin America (outside of her own) and more importantly has poured herself into uncovering the experience of the African Diaspora in the region.  Much of her travels and projects are focused on the black experience around the world, but more specifically in Latin America.  This is often a ‘forgotten’ topic, which is why I am glad that she is tackling it and bringing it to the masses.  I asked her to be a guest blogger knowing that she would come correct and educate us all on some topic that is really no surprise to many in the region, but may be a surprise to those outside of the region.  She is passionate, driven, focused and I totally expect to see very big things from her in the very near future.  I hope that you will take this article in and leave any comments or thoughts in the comments section…both Dash and I will be waiting!! Enjoy!

Guest Blogger Series: Either Pray or Worry….

Guest Blogger Series: Either Pray or Worry….

This post is by a beautiful lady that I happened to meet in my ATL days and as you can see by now, each of my guest bloggers have been from those days…..they were obviously some special days for me.  Anyway, Bridgette Simmonds is one of those people from those days and though she arrived when I was on my way out, we were able to meet and somehow stay in contact over the years (thank you Facebook!).  I asked Bridgette to blog for me because she always seems to have the voice of many of the women that I know and she is able to articulate that voice so well.  Please enjoy this post for her and take it in.  When I read it for the first time it truly touched me and released me from some things that were on my heart, I hope it does the same for you.

Bridgette has a couple of projects that I want to share so that you can get more of her thoughts.  She has started a brand new blog at  http://bridgeefresh.wordpress.com/ , you are bound to continue to be inspired.  She is also the co-owner of The G-Wrap Company www.ghairwrap.com . You can see her ads in various hair magazines! Check her out!

Guest Blogger Series: Can You Put Your Dreams Into Writing?

Guest Blogger Series: Can You Put Your Dreams Into Writing?

When thinking of friends to have write on my blog, it was only natural that I would ask Mr. Isom Kuade! I actually met Isom through Candace Spooner (the last guest blogger) one weekend when he happened to be in town visiting and from that moment we had a natural friendship and bond. Both were created out of the desire to have deep discussions for no reason at all, to challenge each other to think outside the box just because we could, and to understand what ‘this life’ is all about.  Long before I knew what a blog was, Isom and I were having these discussions.

As a new father, devoted husband and a well respected member of a large corporation, I am honored that Isom would take the time away from his own life & blog, to bless me with his presence.  His post about dreams is exactly what we all need to begin taking our thinking a step further and to begin to truly challenge ourselves to go for what it is that we TRULY want.  If you like what you read, go check out more of Isom’s posts at his own blog…www.isomkuade.com or go find him on Facebook at www.facebook.com/isomkuade…you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Ladies & Gentlemen, I present to you Isom Kuade…….{don’t hold your applause}

Guest Blogger Series: A Season of Change

Guest Blogger Series: A Season of Change

The first blog post in the guest blogger series is by a great friend of mine by the name of Candace Spooner.  Candace is a young professional doing her thing in Dallas, TX.  I met Candace in 2005 back in my ATL/Insurance days and my life has definitely been richer from it.  She is a jovial, quick-witted, loyal friend that will have you dancing to any and every song with a little bass.  She has begun to follow her own dreams and live the life that she wants, which is why I thought she would be a great guest blogger for the series.  I hope that you enjoy her post and if you want to learn more about Candace and gain a peek into her world, check her out on Sundays at 9pm CT on her very own radio show called ‘Pillow Talk’.  She will have you dialing in for invigorating discussions and grooving to smooth R&B.  Learn more about her show here http://www.fbrn.us/pillow.html.  Enjoy!!

Ladies & Gentlemen, I present to you Candace Spooner!……*dims lights*

Guest Blogger Series Starting THIS Wednesday!!

Guest Blogger Series Starting THIS Wednesday!!

I am so happy to announce that I will begin a guest blogger series on my blog!!  The goal is to post a new guest blog post every Wednesday or every other Wednesday, I have to first see how many submissions I get and then I will make it clear on how often you will see a guest blogger.  I came up with this idea because I have so many  family & friends with such interesting stories and we all seem to be at a turning point in our lives.  Not all of the guest bloggers are 30, but a good chunk of them are and with that comes changes, reassessments, and realigning of what we ‘thought’ we wanted and what we now actually want.  The younger bloggers also have a compelling story to tell because as well all know, the 20s are full of learning ourselves, who we are, what we believe, what we stand for and what we want out of life.  So this series will be interesting and most of all, if will hopefully push you to take a look at yourself….where you are….and where you want to be.  Or it may just make you laugh….think….smile…who knows.
